Pruning

Pruning is an essential component of long term plant maintenance and it can considerably enhance the beauty of any tree or shrub while improper pruning can ruin them. The most common reasons for pruning are to train the plant, to maintain plant health, to improve the quality of flowers, fruit, foliage and stems and to restrict growth. However not everyone has the skill or the knowhow required to prune correctly to achieve maximum results. This is where we come in. We will analyze pruning requirements of plants according to our maintenance schedules and pruning will be done only if it is strictly necessary.
Pruning needs to be thought of when selecting plants to establish the garden. To keep pruning to a minimum, only plants suitable to the location and soil conditions of the area will be selected. Pruning will from a part of the maintenance and after care programme that will be proposed when the garden is being established. All pruning requirements will be implemented at the same time to avoid further pruning for some time. No unnecessary cuts will be made to change the natural shape of plants.

A pruning schedule taking into consideration how plants will respond to pruning, the optimal time for pruning will be prepared to limit unpleasant side effects that include damaging and weakening plants. The ideal time to prune plants in Sri Lanka is during the rainy season to allow for new growth.

Pruning of varied types of plants need suitable tools. We have equipment ranging from electric saws to prune large trees to smaller equipment needed to prune shrubs and to prune plants such as rose bushes.
